Jessica Neil, senior stylist at KH Hair in West Bridgford and creative director of KH Hair Group’s Creative Team, shares her tips for the hottest hair looks this Autumn.
The Angled Bob
Whether you want to give your bob a tiny tweak for the new season or you’re getting an entirely new short cut – the good news is that an angled bob is an extremely versatile cut in that it works well with a number of face shapes. If you have a square-shaped face the asymmetrical bob is really flattering because it drags the line down and elongates a rounder or squarer face.
If you have a very narrow face, doing a blunt cut is really nice because it actually gives you a lot of width volume.
Textured pixie cuts – plenty of movement and volume using SebastianThickefy Foam for weightless volume and lots of oomph!
Curtained bangs – Reminiscent of 1960s stars like Brigitte Bardot, her ever-so-slightly messy bangs look gorgeous when paired with a high ponytail. Also baby bangs – Less fussy and much more interesting than your standard fringe, choppy, ultra-short bangs like those on Emma Watson giving that super cool factor to any look
I love the look of dramatic ringlets for Autumn. To avoid full poof, take a cue from Ciara and keep the few inches closest to root smooth.
Meghan Markle’s signature low-key updo continues to trend. You’ll feel elegant with this wispy style, which you can achieve by spraying your crown with hairspray before brushing it back into a bun. Pull a few pieces out to get the duchess’s wind-blown look.
Mimics the usual technique but using coffee colours from the dark espresso to the soft latte shades, combining to make this glossy creation a tonal dream.
A pastel trend that brunettes can get involved with. Instead of having to dye your hair bright blonde to achieve the look, this works with darker hair colours.
Whether it’s bright and fiery or a muted strawberry blonde. Autumn/Winter 2018 will see more and more copper tones, from brunettes and golden copper balayage to full on vivid coppers.
Blondes will be steering away from silvery platinum tones and going back to their golden roots.
Moving in from silver and grey shades to more of a charcoal in Autumn/Winter 2018 by taking the grey deeper, the hair will look more glossy, nourished and healthy. Moving on from light grey and silver balayage, charcoal grey is a soft transition and, at the same time, really striking.
Leather head bands, claw clips, banana clips and the zig zag head band are back! 80s hair accessories are making a big comeback this Autumn & Winter.
Bows are also proving popular and work with nearly any hairstyle. Whether it’s curly, straight, or half-up, tying your ‘do with a bow adds some feminine flair to your outfit.
