VE Day – We will remember them
When VE Day dawns on 8th May 2020, it will mark 75 years since the end of the war in Europe. This anniversary provides an opportunity for us all to reflect on the enormous courage and the sacrifices made at home and abroad to bring about the arrival of peace.
We will remember those who gave their lives or returned home injured in body and mind. Not forgetting the hard-working men and women who operated the factories, mines, shipyards and farms; the ARP wardens, police officers, doctors, nurses, firemen, local defence volunteers and others who gave their all during those frightening and uncertain times.
As KH Hair Group marks its 100 year anniversary in 2020, we also remember founder, Mr Keith Hall MBE, who joined the Royal Air Force in 1941 as a trainee pilot, qualifying as a flying instructor the following year. In 1943, his bravery was put to an unexpected test when he witnessed a landing Tiger crash and begin to burn. Running to assist, Mr Hall and his pupil managed to drag the trapped pilot free from the flames and from harm’s way. This bravery led to him being awarded an MBE ‘for gallantry not in the face of the enemy’.
While mass celebrations may be on hold, we are sure you will all remember in your own way the people who gave us the life we enjoy today.
We wish you all a safe and peaceful Bank Holiday weekend and look forward to welcoming you back into our salons in the not too distant future.
