DOUBLE SUCCESS FOR KH HAIR TRAINEES IN NATIONAL STUDENT COMPETITION

Two trainee stylists from East Midlands KH Hair Group have been named winners at a top student hairdressing competition.

Lizzie Williams, who works at KH Hair’s Hinckley salon, and Emily Dyer from the Nottingham salon were awarded Gold and Bronze respectively in the Academy category of Wella Professionals’ XPOSURE event – an initiative designed to help students take their first steps on the competition ladder.

After making the cut in an initial photographic entry, the girls competed at the regional heats before battling it out with 31 other finalists at the Wella World Studio in London earlier this month.  The finalists were required to prepare their model at the studio, before the line-up and parade in front of the judges – some of Wella’s leading artists and prolific industry stylists.

Lizzie said:

“I was so happy when they announced me as the Gold Winner. I really felt confident I had performed at a high level so it was fantastic to hear my name announced.  I’m really looking forward to entering more competitions as my career progresses as I’ve really enjoyed the process – even though it was nerve-wracking at times.”

Helen Fuller, salon director at KH Hair Hinckley, said:

“I’m so proud of Lizzie and it’s a privilege to be able to train staff to perform at this level . Lizzie and I have a very close relationship and it was an honour to be there to support her on the day. We have such a happy team at the salon and it’s a pleasure to work alongside all of them.”

Bronze Award winner Emily added:

“This is my first external competition so I’m really happy to win an award.  It was nerve-wracking but a fantastic day and a great learning experience. One that inspired me to enter more competitions and make a name for myself in the industry.”

Emily’s salon director, Debbie McMenamin, said:

“Emily is a worthy winner. She has a way of making clients feel special through listening and her passion for the profession and an energy that other staff members aspire to. She is a credit to our team and to herself.”
