Lizzie selected for Wella Generation NOW
Lizzie makes top five in coveted UK mentoring programme
KH Hair Hinckley’s Lizzie Williams has been chosen from hundreds of hopefuls to join Generation NOW – an 18-month mentoring programme run by Wella Professionals.
Generation NOW identifies rising stars from the industry to help grow their talents through a number of once in a lifetime experiences throughout the UK and Lizzie says making the cut has been one of the highlights of her career so far. “It’s so amazing to be chosen out of so many talented applicants.” she explains. To be representing Wella, a brand I love and is a huge part of my hairdressing career, is an honour and I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved.”
Lizzie (19) made it through a rigorous process which began with the photographic submission of her work before moving on to the audition stage, where she was put through her paces in front of a panel of industry judges. Candidates had to prepare a model and present them to the judges, demonstrating why they would make a great Generation NOW team member. Lizzie was chosen to join the team of just five successful entrants.
“I’m really looking forward to pushing myself creatively and being out of my comfort zone.” Lizzie adds. “I can’t wait to be learning from respected names within the industry and I’m determined to evolve as a stylist while working with the rest of the Generation NOW team.”
The 18-month programme will include inspirational sessions from a stellar line up of Wella guest artists where the team will learn a wide variety of hairdressing skills to further their career. Everything from session styling to presentation skills and photographic workshops will be covered, with opportunities to broaden their hairdressing careers throughout.
The team kicked off the programme earlier this month with an intensive boot-camp week in London where they were mentored by guest artists including Jake Unger from Hobs Salons, Dom Capel, creative ambassador for Wella’s Sebastian Professional brand and Claire Chell, creative colour director at Francesco Group.
KH Hair’s managing director, Darren Messias, said.
“We’re all so very proud of Lizzie. She is having an amazing year and her hard work is definitely paying off. She deservedly earned the Rising Star Award at KH Hair’s annual award ceremony back in April and won a Gold Award in the Academy category of Wella Professionals XPOSURE event – a top student hairdressing competition – in June. We know she’ll have a terrific 18 months and learn so much from the very best in the industry.”
