Anna Braves the Chop

Loughborough student braves the chop for children’s cancer charity

A Loughborough University student has donated 12 inches of her hair to a charity that makes wigs for children living with cancer.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other conditions. Newly-graduated Anna Hampshire (22), said she heard about the Trust from friends who had previously donated hair and was determined to do something to raise money and awareness to help the charity fulfil their pledge of ending childhood cancer forever.

Anna chose KH Hair on Market Street in the town to carry out the radical cut. “I was really excited and nervous on the day but KH Hair really looked after me.” she said. “Everyone was so friendly and I felt very safe with the new regulations in place.”

“It really was a great experience and I absolutely love my new look.  I’ve had lots of compliments from family, friends and even complete strangers!  I’m really happy to help support the charity as it’s such a good cause.  Losing your hair really can have a drastic affect on your confidence, especially when you’re young.  I’m really grateful to everyone who has donated money which will go towards vital research into childhood cancers.”

KH Hair salon directors, Cate Rowlands and Sheralynne Shepherd, said they think Anna looks amazing with her new look.

“It’s for such a worthy cause and we’re really impressed by the amount of money she has raised for the charity.” they added.

Anna has so far raised over £300 for The Little Princess Trust.  Anyone wishing to donate can do so via her just giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/anna-hampshire
