Spring is in the hair!
Spring has unofficially sprung! The nights are getting lighter and there’s an anticipation of brighter, warmer days ahead.
If you’re thinking of trying a new colour for the coming season, read on to find out what our Master Colour Expert and KH Hair Colour Team Member, Joanne Roe, predicts will be bang on trend this spring.
Going into spring we usually see a lot of clients wanting to be lighter or brighter after the dark months behind us. Warm shades such as butter blonde, honey blonde and apricot tones will be very popular, rather than the cooler, ashy tones we have seen throughout the winter.

Balayage is still really big, and I think we’ll be seeing more statement looks using contrasting colours such as pinks ,coppers and purples for more of a dramatic statement. These can also be changed up in between appointments with toners, and refreshed at home with the Wella Color Fresh Create Masks.

There will also be more minimal balayage using the Pantone Colour of the Year, Mocha Moose, but also teddy bear brunette and softer muted tones.
We are also seeing a lot more fun techniques on social media such as Calico. The use of blonde coppers, black or dark brown to create chunky sections of colour. This technique works great with a textured shag haircut or long layered hair evolving from the balayage look for something bolder and more creative.
When it comes to products, we have available a wide range of Wella Color Fresh Masks, including some new shades that will help keep hair looking great in between appointments. From pink to caramel glaze, there are now 14 great shades to choose from – 10 natural and four vibrant.

Recently, we are also seeing a trend towards more low maintenance colouring as clients are more concerned about their hair condition and want to keep their hair as healthy as possible. I’d recommend a Glaze and Seal as a top coat service, or glossing with zero damage can be applied to natural or coloured hair. This lasts up to six weeks and no skin test is needed.
Inspired? Remember, all KH Hair salons offer a complimentary colour consultation, so ask your colourist for details. And don’t forget your skin test!
We look forward to seeing you in your favourite KH Hair salon very soon.
