Your dream bridal hair for 2026
It’s not just about the dress, right? Every bride knows that her wedding hairstyle is the cherry on the cake of looking and feeling fantastic on the happiest day of her life.
It’s the finishing touch that will make you feel amazing from the top of the aisle to the last dance of the day. So, when writing your planning schedule for the big day, it’s important to remember to leave plenty of time to factor in your dream wedding hair.
We asked KH Hair Creative Team member, Martin Quenault, about those all-important, most-wanted bridal trends for 2026 and how to ensure you get your dream wedding hair on your special day.
2026 bridal trends are all about soft, effortless elegance. Think undone, textured and brushed out curls. Brides are going for more of a relaxed feel with Victorian waves, whimsical, loose and romantic hair. Braids are swept loosely up with accessories following a more vintage style, using pins and pearls rather than florals.
I’d highly recommend brides wash their hair the night before the wedding, rather than on the day. This will give hair more grip for updos. Dry shampoo is also great to give the hair more hold when styling. Always have a bridal trial or two with your stylist so you can practice exactly what you want and experiment. It’s basically a practice run-through and a perfect opportunity for a bride to try out ideas. A hair trial should include expert styling advice and discussions about any accessories that may be involved in the hair styling, including accessories, a veil or even hair extensions. The stylist will take the time to test out your ideas, so that on the big day you can be relaxed knowing exactly what’s going to happen.
It’s really important to schedule a bridal hair trial about a month or two before the wedding, preferably in the morning so you can make sure the style is going to last the whole day. This gives the bride and the stylist enough time to make any necessary adjustments ahead of the wedding day itself.
If you’re planning to try out a new hair colour, I’d recommend scheduling a trial about three months in advance to allow the colourist to plan the transition. Any final colouring should be booked in about two weeks before the wedding day to let the hair settle but still be fresh on the big day.
To make the most of a bridal hair trial, it’s ideal to arrive at the salon with clean, dry hair that’s ready to be styled. Take any photos and hair accessories with you and discuss with your stylist important details such as makeup choices, the style of your wedding dress etc. These will give them an overall idea of the look you’re aiming for.
The aim of the trial is to make sure the bride is completely satisfied and happy with her dream hairstyle. If the styling isn’t quite what you had hoped for, there is still time to schedule a follow-up appointment to perfect the hairstyle. That’s why it’s essential to have a clear vision of the look you want and talk through all options with the stylist well in advance of the big day.
Lastly, try and keep an open mind and have realistic expectations during a bridal hair trial. This should be an enjoyable and exciting experience for and you should always feel free to speak up if something isn’t perfect for you. This is all about your dream wedding hair, after all.
