A day in the life of a KH Hair stylist
If you’ve been following our news lately, you’ll know that 21-year-old Amelia Krasinski’s transformation from a hairdressing apprentice to an award-winning stylist has been a remarkable one, full of competition wins and national industry achievements and accolades.
But when she’s not chasing the next competition goal, she’s usually found to be doing what she loves best – working in our Arnold salon alongside her KH Hair team mates. We asked Amelia what her typical day in the salon involves.
How do you start your working day in the salon?
We always start the day with a team ‘buzz meeting’ at 9am. It’s nice to come together to spend 30 minutes sharing information about the day ahead and any interesting stories about the clients who are coming in. This helps give them a positive and personal experience. The meetings are always full of positives and really set the tone for the day ahead. Afterwards, I set out the products I know I’ll be needing – especially if it’s a day doing extensions – and I always like to do a full consultation before getting started.
What are your favourite services to do on your clients?
I love turning my clients’ hair dreams into a reality and making them look and feel fantastic. Anything to do with colour is a real passion of mine and what I do most of. No one day is the same, with anything from a natural blend to something much more creative. I’m currently working towards my Wella Master Color Expert qualification, for which I am due to graduate in October 2026, making this a key milestone in my career. This qualification is vital in my continued professional growth and development as a colour specialist.
I also love to work with anything that will add shine to the hair. The new System Professional Ultimate Colour Shine Spray from Wella is my absolutely favourite product at the moment and gives a perfect finish.
What do you love about your salon team?
Everyone gets on so well, which makes the working day so much more enjoyable. We are all so very supportive of each other and we all bounce along just fine. Each team member contributes their fair share of the workload and really cares about the success of KH Hair as a company.
Whenever there are any team activities, every single member wants to be involved. Not one of them ever cries off with an excuse. We all have a great time together and look after each other. Away from the salon too, we are always finding excuses to socialise and have fun.
In addition to client services, what else does your day entail?
I’ve recently been really privileged to get involved in training our apprentices. I’ve been teaching them a lot about colour work and how important a thorough consultation is. I’ve also loved showing them how to put together more creative looks for competitions and photo shoots. I’m really grateful that I’m able to give back some of what I’ve learned to the next generation of KH Hair stylists and colourists.
How would you sum up being a part of KH Hair?
Since I first joined the company aged just 15, KH Hair has given me so many great opportunities. My salon, academy and head office teams are always there for me and I have felt very supported with ongoing training and advice throughout the apprenticeship and as a fully-qualified stylist.
I love that there is something different to do every day. There is always a challenge and I am constantly busy and learning new things. It’s hard work but I love every single minute of it. For anyone considering a career in this fantastic industry, and particularly with KH Hair, I’d say “What are you waiting for? Hit that recruitment link!”
