Tutbury apprentice through to UK final of top hair and beauty awards
A 17-year-old apprentice from Tutbury is celebrating after being recognised as a finalist at the Official UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2026.
Millie Field, who is in the second year of her apprenticeship at KH Hair in the town, has been shortlisted in the ‘Trainee of the Year’ category, representing Burton upon Trent, and she says she’s over the moon.
“I entered just to give it my best shot, but never dreamed I’d get anywhere so, to be in the finals has made me so happy,” she says. “To win would be amazing and I’m keeping everything crossed for the final.”
Millie’s salon director, Beckie Maznenko says she is incredibly proud. “Being shortlisted for Trainee of the Year representing Burton upon Trent is such an amazing achievement and so well deserved,” she says. “Millie’s hard work, passion and dedication are shining through and I’m sure this is only the beginning for her. Keep believing in yourself Millie! We’re all so proud of you.”
While Millie dreams of owning her own salon one day, she says, for now, she is quite happy where she is at KH Hair. “I’m really looking forward to qualifying later this year,” she says. “Then I want to continue my education by going on more training courses including in extension methods so I can really offer a great experience and end result to all my wonderful clients.”
The UK Hair and Beauty Awards are widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the hair and beauty industry. Millie will find out if she’s a winner at the official awards ceremony which will be held at the AO Arena, Manchester on Saturday 15th August.
