From apprentice to rising star
21-year-old Amelia Krasinski’s transformation from a hairdressing apprentice to an award-winning industry rising star is a remarkable journey. If you’re looking for a career in hairdressing and wondering whether an apprenticeship would be the right route for you, read on…
Since becoming a fully-qualified hair stylist in 2022, Amelia, who completed her hairdressing apprenticeship at the KH Hair Training Academy, has achieved incredible success in the industry. With a string of awards and achievements already to her credit, and more exciting times ahead, she really is one to watch!
She began her career journey aged just 15, with a week of work experience that turned into a Saturday job. She says, from thereon, she knew hairdressing was the job for her. “I loved the atmosphere of working in a salon and knew I wanted to do an apprenticeship,” she explains. “I’m more of a ‘hands on’ person and I like to be on my feet being busy, so I didn’t think college would be for me. Someone recommended KH Hair as a place to start my journey as an apprentice and the training looked amazing, as did the idea of working in a KH Hair salon.

“Part of my apprenticeship training was actually in lockdown, which meant a lot of practical work was put on hold. We had Zoom sessions instead, so my mum and sister became my models. During this time I discovered a whole world of incredible hairstylists who inspired me. I was hooked on Jordanna Cobella’s online education, and creating Patrick Cameron’s hair-ups, all from my bedroom. The apprenticeship really opened my eyes to the creativity in hair, the opportunity in the industry and made me determined to be a part of it.”
Awards and achievements
When she was just 18, Amelia finalised for Wella’s TrendVision UK Colour Visionary Award. “I was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but I gave it my all,” she says. “I was on such a high afterwards, I just wanted to do it all over again! I met friends for life and I was so inspired. I’m happy to say I finalised again the following year and pushed myself even harder. I had more experience, more confidence and more creative vision. It was such a proud moment for me and encouraged me to grow even more.
“At the end of 2023, I applied for the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Project Colour Team and I was thrilled to win a place on this prestigious year-long mentoring programme. It was my best year yet! Daniel Couch was an amazing mentor and being part of the Team gave me an opportunity to advance in my colour techniques, push myself creatively and step outside my comfort zone. I was learning from the best in the industry and everyone on my Team, who were all insanely talented. At the end of the programme, I was thrilled to be presented with the Project Colour Achiever of the Year award.”

With her confidence beginning to build, Amelia auditioned for the Fellowship’s Clubstar Art Team and made it on to the 2025 programme. “I’m being mentored by Josh and Sophie Goldsworthy and, so far we have had an amazing year!” says Amelia. “We’ve had incredible experiences including photo shoots, stage work and mentoring days with top icons in the industry. Being on the Team has definitely pushed me to be more creative and pursue experiences outside of the salon, developing my skills in session work and so much more.”
Amelia added a further string to her bow in 2025 when she was announced the winner of Colour World UK’s New Talent Colour Genius award.
Support from KH Hair - through apprenticeships and beyond...
Amelia says being a part of KH Hair has given her very many opportunities. “I love the team I work with at KH Hair in Arnold,” she says. “They are always there for me and I have always felt very supported with ongoing training and advice throughout the apprenticeship and as a fully-qualified stylist. They are always encouraging me to keep going and, without them, I would never have had the confidence to be part of Clubstar Art Team and Project Colour!
“At KH Hair I’ve learned photo shoot skills and assisted with an entry for the British Hairdressing Awards. Additionally, I’ve helped create three looks which all won ‘Image of the Year’ at our annual awards ceremony. I was also thrilled to win the company’s ‘Rising Star’ award in 2024, the same year I was chosen to join the KH Hair Creative Team. Being on the Team means being involved with session work, photo shoots and major industry shows. It also allows me to pass on my knowledge by helping to train our third-year apprentices and newly-qualified stylists.”
The future’s bright!
Since completing her apprenticeship just three years ago, Amelia has already made her mark, both within KH Hair and the wider industry. However, she’s no intention of slowing down. “My next big goal is to work towards a place on the Fellowship of British Hairdressing’s F.A.M.E. TEAM,” she says. “It feels like the next step in my career and I’ve recently found out I have been chosen as a finalist for the 2026 Team!! I’m very excited to see where that could lead. Bring on the finals in October!!”
Amelia is also waiting to find out whether 2025 will be her year to walk off with that elusive TrendVision Award. She has finalised in this year’s Transformation Award and we all wish her the very best of luck for the finals in October.
In addition, she has reached the finals of Creative Head magazine’s 2025 IT List in the Rising Star category and will be heading down to London for the finals on October 13th. Watch this space!
