A glitzy return for the KH Hair annual awards ceremony
Group raises £6499 for NHS Charities Together
It was a much-anticipated night in the East Midlands as KH Hair came together after a two-year enforced break to celebrate individual and team achievements at the Group’s glittering awards ceremony.
The event took place on 12 June at Metronome in Nottingham city centre, hosting KH Hair’s 200+ staff who were clearly delighted to be back together after the pandemic brought gatherings to a halt in 2020.
KH Hair Group’s managing director, Darren Messias, kicked off the evening by thanking the teams for their hard work and support during the last two challenging years. “Tonight is a celebration of teams, of individuals, of business, of creativity, and the fact that we can all be together again after an extremely challenging two years for us all.” he said. “It really struck me during the lockdowns what an amazing family KH Hair is, and how our strength comes from the fact we are there for each other during the good and bad times. I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you very much for all your support and patience.”
Darren acknowledged 25 individuals for long service to the company, before 23 awards were handed out to the Group’s top teams and individuals.
The most coveted award of the night, Salon of the Year, was awarded to both the Nottingham and Ripley salons for equally exemplary performances in customer service, turnover, and retail sales. KH Hair Nottingham’s salon director, Debbie McMenamin, whose team scooped six awards in total, said: “We really do have the best team we’ve ever had, and we are so proud of them all. It’s been a tough couple of years and last night was a brilliant way to celebrate all we have achieved. We are thrilled to have won so many awards across the board. Thank you to all our clients who continue to support us, and for all the love. We really are completely overwhelmed.”
Salon director at KH Hair Ripley, Sarah Storer, says she was thrilled to win a Salon of the Year Award and also the Salon Service Award. “I was stunned, to be honest!” she said. “Both awards mean the world to me. My team work so hard, and I am very proud of them. It was great to be back together with our KH Hair family, and being recognised for our achievements is just fantastic. Thank you to my team and also to our loyal clients whose generous feedback and reviews helped us win the Salon Service Award.”
There were celebrations too for KH Hair Arnold who were winners of three accolades which included the hotly contested Image of the Year Award. Salon director, Helen Stillwell, who worked on the winning image, said: “What an amazing opportunity to be able to get creative with my two colleagues to produce an image that represents both our salon and us as stylists. With me cutting, and Autumn and Lottie styling, we brought all our visions together to create our final look which we are very proud of.”
During the evening, guests were entertained by the talents of Ireland’s finest hip-hop musical comedian, Rob Broderick, a.k.a. Abandoman. Fusing music and comedy led by audience suggestion and creating musical songs and sketches at lightning speed, Abandoman has headlined comedy stages at every major UK music festival, toured with multi-platinum artists, and won numerous awards including the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year.
As the award ceremony came to a close, Darren thanked the salons for helping to raise a collective £6499 in the last year for the Group’s official charity, NHS Charities Together. “All of us at KH Hair are delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for the NHS.” he said. “It safe to say that the NHS has always been the most wonderful institution and we are so lucky to have it, but this was never more apparent than through the pandemic The very least we could do is pull together as a company and try to raise as much money as we could as a thank you to all the amazing people who work for the NHS.”
