FIND A SALON

Hello Autumn

Autumn has arrived! Time to swap your T-shirts for those cozy jumpers and your sandals for your favourite boots.

If you’re considering a new hair colour or style to go with the seasonal change of wardrobe, you’ve come to the right place. We asked our Creative and Colour Teams for their tips on this season’s most-wanted colours, styles, and best product buys.

Charlie, a member of our Colour Team and salon manager at KH Hair in Leicester, tells us all about the new Cowgirl Copper trend that has been flooding social media recently.

One scroll through TikTok and you’re bound to see the new hair trend ‘Cowgirl Copper’. But what exactly is it? Well, it’s a muted soft copper with a little bit of caramel, red, brunette, and sometimes even blonde, blended together to make the perfect shade. Of course, the colour will vary depending on your current hair colour. It’s a great way to refresh an old balayage, keeping the root more natural. Bear in mind that, if you are naturally darker, you will need to have your hair lightened first to achieve this kind of colour.

For maintenance between salon visits, Wella’s Color Fresh copper mask is my go-to top-up home care product. The mask will help keep your copper looking fresh in between appointments. In just 10 minutes, the nourishing mask delivers the perfect combination of temporary colour and complete care. It will revive and refresh your colour while keeping locks silky-smooth and moisturised

I also love using Wella’s Illumina to achieve the perfect copper. Its violet undertones soften the overall colour perfectly.”

Martin, Creative Team member and salon director at KH Hair in Ashby, says the technique of colour blocking will also be a big hit this Autumn.

Colour blocking is all about creating bold statements by using chunky panels including blocks of colour to frame the face. The technique is really a new take on the money piece, applying a panel of colour which stands out in contrast to the main shade. You can follow this trend with a more subtle look by having a peekaboo colour shining through from the underneath.

Shades for Autumn/Winter 2023/24 will be inspired by nature but will all be about contrast. Think translucency sitting next to bold colour and natural brights sitting next to deeper tones. Caramels and copper tones are always popular but we will see them sitting in contrast next to a cooler base.

If you are embracing your natural grey, it can be given some shine with panels of colour glaze, enhancing the whiter areas or even subtle pinks added using Wella Shinefinity shades and our glazing service.

Finally on colour, the ever-popular Balayage is continuing to be requested but is becoming less blended with more defined pieces of colour appearing.

When it comes to cuts, bangs and face framing are still big and these cuts will enhance the colour blocking techniques previously mentioned. We’ll see lots of texture, more ‘undone’ styling, moving away from a uniformed look. And look out for shaggy bobs and 90’s supermodel layers!

As the weather gets damper and colder, it’s important to choose your products wisely. I recommend the new Wella Ultimate Repair range which will help strengthen, repair, protect and smooth your hair. The range comprises a shampoo, a conditioner and a leave-in cream which protects the hair from five key concerns – breakage, UV, heat, mechanical damage and excess frizz. Ask your stylist for more details and stock availability.

So, are you ready to embrace Autumn? Remember, all KH Hair salons offer a complimentary colour consultation, so ask your colourist for details. And don’t forget your skin test! We look forward to seeing you very soon.
