The Journey of a KH Hair Apprentice
Initial training phase: You will start by learning the introduction to hairdressing. This means learning the fundamentals of being a hair stylist. This will include being taught health and safety, how to properly liaise with consultants, and the basics of cutting hair. Hopefully, with effort and a good attitude, you should have a strong foundation to build off and develop into a more advanced skillset.
Intermediate Skills Development: After learning the basics of being a hair stylist here at KH, you will move on to developing your skills further. We will take the building blocks we have worked together to create and use them to gain abilities in hair colouring, styling techniques, and the use of more advanced tools in our industry. You will also begin working with actual clients under supervision of a mentor. This will give you the hands-on experience we promised, and you can learn in the best way, by doing.
Specialised Training: As time goes on, KH Hair will allow you the opportunity to pick a field to specialise in, so you can find a topic you have gained a passion for and develop those skills further and become an expert yourself. This will allow you to find your own style. Potentially, it will also allow you to cover you own niche in the market whilst also allowing your creativity to flourish.
Qualifications and Career Progression: Whilst being an apprentice here at KH Hair, you will end your education with a NVQ level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals. Allowing to come away from your experience with us with a degree that can be useful anywhere in the country. We may also provide you with the ability to join us on a permanent basis and you can continue with KH Hair if you would like to hairdressing with us.
How to Apply for KH Hair Apprenticeships
Requirements: There are no formal requirements, and your employment will depend on the success of an interview at the chosen KH Hair salon. However, if you do not achieve a grade from 9 – 4 GCSE in Maths and English you will be required to do a functional skills test in these subjects at Level 1. The course is suitable for hairdressers in the 16 – 19 age groups who will be on a 2-year training and employment contract.
