Welcome Amber to the Colour Team!
We are delighted to announce that the KH Hair Colour Team has a new member! A big welcome to Amber Newton who works as an advanced stylist at our Nottingham City Centre salon.
24 year old Amber’s talent caught the attention of the Team, which was formed in 2017 in recognition of the expert colour services provided across KH Hair’s 21 salons and barbers
Amber, who lives in Carlton, first had her hair cut at the Castle Gate salon aged just 13. This led to a Saturday job and then, on leaving school, she joined the team as an apprentice and now says it feels like home.
We asked her…
What did you have to do to make it on to the Colour Team?
I’ve been posting lots of images of my colour work on social media to get myself out there and known within the company. I completed my Wella Master Colour Expert programme and my boss, Debbie, put me forward to Group managing director, Darren. When he spoke to the Colour Team, they said they’d had their eye on my work for a while and would be delighted to have me!
How did it feel when you heard you’d been accepted onto the Team?
It was great. It’s such a good feeling knowing there’s a team dedicated to colouring and that we all have the same passion.
What exciting things have you been involved in since you joined?
I haven’t been with the team too long, but already we’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some very famous people in our industry. There’s always something planned in the diary.
What are you looking forward to next?
I’m looking forward to spending some more time with the Colour Team. For years I’ve been following what kind of things they get involved in such as colouring and styling models to participate in shoots and making collections, so I’m definitely looking forward to that.
How supportive have the rest of the Team been?
They’ve been lovely. It’s a small team and every single one of us has the same love for colouring, so it’s nice to share that with new people.
What are long-term ambitions for your hairdressing career?
Well you never really stop learning in this career, so keeping up to date with everything is a must. I’ve previously completed a number of courses and qualifications including my NVQ Level 3, hair extension courses, and my most recent Master Colour Expert qualification, which they’re now furthering to degree level, so I cannot wait to do that!
